Challenge for manufacturers: „Energy label digitalization”
Joint efforts of multinational information technology company and leading provider of custom made and ready-made solutions ease the burden of compliance.
So far, aware of the environmental change and technological advancement, almost every country in the world tends to achieve environmental sustainability and technical modernization supporting the business landscape. In order to do so, the EU has turned to standardization and digitalization of the existing energy labels by providing a legal and technical framework – one standardized framework for all.
According to Applia , trade association that provides a consensual voice for the home appliance industry in Europe, by 2020 there will be 50 billion connected household devices, and by 2022 every home will have more than 500 connected devices*. Latest data regarding the home appliance industry in Europe shows that this industry grows day by day. More than 113,4 million of large and more than 129 million of small home appliances were sold in 2018** which demonstrates the growth and development of the industry, but also a necessity to maintain the awareness of its impact on the society.
Any manufacturer selling their products on EU shelves is liable to comply with the “REGULATION (EU) 2017/1369 OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT AND OF THE COUNCIL of 4 July 2017 setting a framework for energy labelling and repealing Directive 2010/30/EU”. Simplified, since 2010 manufactures have been liable to present energy labels “on shelves”, while the European Product Registry for Energy Labelling (EPREL) is a new additional compliance task which basically results on “collecting” the data into a central database used for multiple purposes. It captures energy labelling, technical documentation and compliance information in one database.
EPREL service, combining skills and knowledge of TIS and IBM, enables your company a full EPREL compliant service. While IBM transforms data into a proper format, TIS enables a completely automated system 2 system transport according to EU standards!
Cloud based services such as IBM SCBN, IBM FTS and TIS AS4 BB provide an end to end solution to upload energy labels and adjacent technical specifications to a central EU database.
In result, your company can dedicate their resources and time to core business activities and develop more efficient devices for the benefit of the public and environment.
1. The first step is to prepare data.
There are two mandatory file types: Prescribed XML format for each type of device encompassed by EPREL and a PDF. It's up to the manufacturer to prepare the data by using their own resources or use IBM SCBN and FTS service.
2. The second step is transportation of data.
In addition to the file types, EPREL also specified a transportation method – specifically AS4 – in accordance with the EU CEF AS4 e-delivery building block, which shall be used for the system-to-system upload. EPREL responds using TIS AS4 BB cloud service and notifies the manufacturer that the data has been received or that it has been processed in one-minute time.
- Automated system 2 system upload
- Control of your data
- Lower time consumption, especially for large companies uploading thousands of files per month
- Daily support by specialist
- Digitalized process with regulatory time constraints
- Services dedicated and experienced specifically for EPREL projects
- EPREL technical consultancy
- Ability to build an on prem solution per request
- Focus on production instead of compliance
- Simplified data upload regarding energy labels and device specifications to central EU database
- Minimised impact on the society and the environment
Simply upload files where IBM will transform data and TIS will provide automated system 2 system transport on your behalf. So, if you are manufacturer from the EU, authorised representative of the manufacturer that does not come from the EU or an importer, you have to make sure that every product on the shelve has its energy label entered into a central EPREL database.
